Earlier this week, it was announced that Greater Manchester was set to to get £2.5 billion funding boost. Today, Jo Platt met up with Simon Lightwood MP – the Minister for Local Transport – to discuss the ongoing transport challenges facing Leigh and Atherton residents.
Whilst Jo – the MP for Leigh and Atherton – acknowledged that the £2.5 billion investment into the Greater Manchester’s transport network was much-needed – she also wanted to highlighting the ongoing transport challenges facing her constituents.
Jo Platt said: “I had a productive meeting with the Minister for Local Transport, following the Government’s funding announcement for transport in Greater Manchester. This investment is a huge win, but there’s still more work to do for the people of Leigh and Atherton.
“I will keep pushing – locally and nationally – to make sure we get the transport infrastructure we need and deserve, connecting our communities to the wider region.”
