Today, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced £2.5 billion funding boost for Greater Manchester to create the UK’s first fully integrated, zero-emission public transport network – with Leigh set to get a new bus interchange.
The new funding will pay for:
- An all-electric local public transport network by 2030
- Bringing rail into the Bee Network
- Delivering projects driving green growth
Leigh and Atherton MP, Jo Platt said: “The announcement of a transformative step for the region, delivering tangible benefits across towns and cities.
“Locally, Leigh will benefit from a new bus interchange, a welcome step in improving local connectivity.
“But there’s still more to do. I will keep fighting for the investment we need in Leigh and Atherton to make sure our communities are fully connected to the growth and prosperity of the region and unlock our full potential.”
