Today, Jo Platt MP hosted a housing drop-in session for local residents, giving constituents the opportunity to come in for help and advice.
The drop-in event was for anybody living in Leigh and Atherton – which includes Tyldesley, Golborne, Lowton, and parts of Astley – that had an issue with housing that they’d like to discuss.
The Housing Advisory Panel was in attendance, which is made up of tenants and Councillors, who work together for the benefit of Wigan Council Tenants.
Jo Platt said: “I met with residents and Wigan Council’s Assistant Director of Housing Services and Service Manager of Tenancy Management at a housing drop-in session at my constituency office on Bradshawgate.
“There was lot of ground to cover – not least being the need for more social housing.
“It was also an opportunity to discuss the work being done to reduce the council’s housing waiting list, facilitate home swaps, tackle overcrowding, address outstanding repairs and bring empty properties back into use.
“Many thanks to Tom Dalton, the Vice Chair of the Housing Advisory Panel, for attending.”
