Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

The Social Mobility Alliance launched in Parliament today, supported by Leigh and Atherton MP – Jo Platt.
The Social Mobility Foundation started breaking down barriers in 2005, by directly supporting young people. They believe that success should be determined by ability, not where you were born, where you went to school, or the occupation of your parents or guardians.
The Social Mobility Foundation also believes that talent is everywhere in this country, but opportunity is not. This is something which they are trying to change.
Jo Platt MP says: “I was honoured to host the launch of the Social Mobility Alliance in Parliament on Social Mobility Day.
“It was wonderful to be joined by charities, businesses, young people, MPs and Peers united in our vision for equal access to opportunities for everyone, regardless of background.
“Listening to young voices from working-class communities share their daily challenges and their determination to drive change was truly powerful.
“We need to break down barriers to opportunity and smash the class ceiling once and for all.”
