Leigh Infirmary and Atherleigh Park Hospital are to receive a share of over £9 million of funding that is being spent in Greater Manchester.
Over 400 hospitals, mental health units and ambulance sites will be handed £750 million to tackle long-term problems, modernise healthcare facilities and ensure patients receive the care they need without disruption.
Leigh and Atherton MP – Jo Platt – said: “I am pleased to report that Leigh Infirmary and Atherleigh Park Hospital will get its share of £9 million of funding that has been committed to Greater Manchester.
“This money will be used to address critical problems such as leaking pipes, poor ventilation, and outdated electrical systems – issues that have led to cancelled operations and appointments in recent years.”
Work on these projects is expected to begin this summer, with further improvements scheduled throughout the 2025-2026 financial year.
