Earlier today, Leigh and Atherton MP – Jo Platt – hosted a joint meeting between the ME APPG and Long Covid APPG.

This joint meeting was held to stress the urgent need for strategic investment in research for post-viral conditions.

Stephen Timms MP – Minister for Social Security and Disability – also came along, to answer questions from the group that related to welfare reforms. 

Jo Platt said: “During today’s meeting, we had an enlightening and robust discussion on the challenges facing individuals with ME and Long Covid and the necessity for a strategic plan in funding research for these conditions and related post-infectious illnesses.

“I’m extremely thankful to the Minister for Social Security and Disability, Stephen Timms MP, for attending the meeting to listen and respond to the these communities’ concerns on the Government’s welfare reforms.”
