Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

Jo Platt – MP for Leigh and Atherton – attended two events today, to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
The first event was in Wigan’s Mesnes Park for the borough-wide celebrations. Jo then went to Dorset Road Community Centre in Atherton for a second event, marking this special anniversary.
Jo Platt said: “Today I crossed the border into Wigan’s Mesnes Park for the borough-wide celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
“It was a real honour to join Mayor Debbie Parkinson, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, the Rt Hon Lisa Nandy MP, and many other distinguished guests in marking such an important event.
“I then hot-footed it over to Dorset Road Community Centre in Atherton, where the VE Day spirit continued with a brilliant family fun day. It was lovely to catch up with Norman Bradbury, who puts so much heart and effort into supporting this community.
“Days like today are a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made and the strength we draw from standing together.”
