Leigh and Atherton MP Jo Platt is urging local residents to report all incidents of anti-social behaviour, so that the authorities can act.
Following reports of unruly behaviour on Bradshawgate this week, the Leigh Town Centre Neighbourhood Team has taken swift action.
The team spoke to numerous people on Bradshawgate and surrounding areas. One of the people they spoke to was wanted for a breach of court bail conditions. They were arrested and will remain in custody until they appear in court.
They have also been working to clear the area outside the old book cycle store on Bradshawgate. All people that were sleeping there have engaged and their details will be forwarded onto support agencies for long-term help.
Jo Platt said: “Working closely with the local authority and businesses, we are committed to making our town centre a safer, more welcoming place for everyone.
“I cannot stress enough the importance of reporting all incidents of anti-social behaviour – no matter how minor they may seem.
“Don’t just post about it on Facebook – take action.”
