Leigh Market refurbishment survey.
Leigh Market refurbishment survey.

Wigan Council has launched a public survey on its plan to revitalise Leigh Market and local MP Jo Platt is urging locals to have their say on the plan.

Leigh Market will be refurbished, to make sure that it’s ready for the future.  The public survey will help to finalise plans before the work starts next year.

Jo Platt said: “I’d encourage all residents and businesses to get involved and have their say on the future of Leigh Market. The refurbishment plan is yet to be finalised, so this is your chance to influence it.

“In the meantime, Leigh Market is open – and it will continue trading at its current location for the rest of this year – construction work won’t start until 2026.

“I’d urge residents to continue shopping at Leigh Market – to support our great local traders.”

Once work begins on the refurbishment, Leigh Market will temporarily move from its current location. Wigan Council is working closely with market traders on options for alternative locations during this period.
