Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton
Leigh and Atherton MP Jo Platt spoke in Parliament today, to get reassurance that the stories of veterans will not be lost.
Last week, Jo had the greatest honour of presenting 100-year-old D-Day veteran Eric Radcliffe, with his official Armed Forces badge. She also thanked him for his service to Leigh and Atherton – and our country.
Listen to Jo speaking about the importance of remembering in Parliament:
The Government has also announced a national day of unity to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day – a tribute to those who fought for our freedom in a shared moment of celebration.
Jo Platt said: “This will be an opportunity for the whole of Leigh and Atherton to come together, celebrate in their own way, and pay tribute to our brave men like Eric so that his story will never be forgotten.”
