Leigh band – The Lottery Winners – are one of 58 recipients of funding from the 23rd round of the Music Export Growth Scheme (MEGS).
MEGS is a partnership between the recorded music industry and Government. It exists to boost British music exports by supporting SME music businesses and independent artists to engage in international activity with financial grants ranging from £5,000 to £50,000.
This funding plays a crucial role in ‘breaking’ British artists internationally who have achieved domestic success but face fierce global competition in the music market. It also recognises the economic importance and potential for growth of music exports.
The UK is the second biggest exporter of recorded music in the world, valued at £775 million in 2023, and on track to rise to £1 billion by the end of the decade.
The scheme is administrated by The BPI – the voice of the UK’s recorded music industry.
