Leigh and Atherton MP Jo Platt met with the Canal & Rivers Trust this morning, alongside local volunteers and local Councillor Lee McStein.
The group met to discuss specific issues, that constituents have flagged with Jo Platt. Local people have written to their MP to discuss issues such as accessibility, litter, dog fouling and anti-social behaviour.
During the visit, Jo also met Canal & Rivers Trust volunteers, who were working on the canal.
Jo Platt said: “It was great to meet with the Canal & Rivers Trust to discuss the ongoing work to protect and maintain our waterways. I was also pleased to have the opportunity to flag the issues that my constituents are facing.
“It is so important that our waterways are maintained, so that everyone can access and enjoy one of the jewels in Leigh’s crown – our canal network.”
The Canal & Rivers Trust is the UK’s largest canal charity, looking after 2,000 miles of canals and rivers across England and Wales.
