Jo Platt MP met with Darren Jones, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, ahead of the Spring Statement on Wednesday 26 March, 2025.
During the meeting, the pair discussed the priorities for Leigh and Atherton and how it fits into the Government’s ‘Plan for Change’.
In December 2024, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer unveiled the UK’s ‘Plan for Change’, which outlined six key milestones to be achieved by the next general election. The milestones revolve around the themes of economic growth, housing and infrastructure, healthcare, policing, education and clean energy.
Jo Platt said: “It was great to speak to Darren Jones, ahead of the Spring Statement, to specifically discuss how we can grow existing businesses in Leigh and Atherton.”
The UK’s Spring Statement will be delivered by Chancellor Rachel Reeves. This statement will include the latest economic and fiscal forecasts from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
