This year marks five years since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Leigh and Atherton MP – Jo Platt – went to a Day of Reflection event at Leigh’s Covid Memorial Garden in Lilford Park.
The Day of Reflection is a national event, to honour and remember those who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to recognise the tireless work and acts of kindness shown during that unprecedented time.
Jo was joined at the event by local councillors – Debra Wailes, John Harding, Keith Cunliffe, Lee McStein and Dane Anderton – Wigan Mayor Debbie Parkinson and a Royal Air Force Air Cadet were also in attendance.
Jo Platt said: “I was honoured to attend a service of remembrance at Leigh’s Covid Memorial Garden in at Lilford Park.
“It was an opportunity to come together to acknowledge the extraordinary resilience and sense of community that saw us through.
“We should never forget all those that lost their lives and for those that served to keep us safe.”
