Lilford - which was impacted by recent flooding.

As the Lead Local Flood Authority, Wigan Council is carrying out an investigation following the flooding in the Lilford Park area on 1 January, 2025 – and local MP Jo Platt is encouraging all residents that were impacted to share their experiences.

The investigation, which has been commissioned by JBA Consulting, will help Wigan Council to understand how people were impacted and what can be done to manage flood risk in the future.

Jo Platt said: “I’d like to urge those that were impacted by the flooding on New Year’s Day to take part in the survey and to share their experiences.

“We want to prevent floods from happening in the future and I’m hopeful that this investigation could provide us with some solutions. That’s why we need to ensure that the voices of those that have experienced flooding first-hand are heard.”

Wigan Council is conducting the investigation in its role as the Lead Local Flood Authority by undertaking a formal flood investigation under Section 19 of the Flood and Water Management Act (2010).

If you were affected by the Lilford floods, complete the survey.
