Today, Jo Platt – the MP for Leigh and Atherton – visited The Green Grass Centre in Atherton, to hear about its community work.
The Green Grass Centre aims to lift the spirits – and to improve the life skills – of the local community in Hag Fold and Atherton. The team offers a wide range of resources activities and courses that are open to members of the community.
After meeting the team today, Jo Platt said: “There’s a lot that goes unsung in our communities, quietly getting on with it while making real changes to people’s lives.
“The Green Grass Centre is just one organisation that completely blows me away, especially two women in particular – Lynn Hayes and Laura Hopkins – not to mention their countless volunteers.
“The centre offers a wide range of services, including a discounted food market, courses, and health and well-being classes – right in the middle of the Hag Fold community.
“I loved visiting today, and I will do all I can to support the team.”
