Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

Leigh and Atherton MP Jo Platt met local families at a new Special Educational Needs (SEN) drop-in session in Tyldesley today.
The drop-in session, which was funded using a grant from the National Lottery, took place at MYSENsability in Tyldesley.
MYSENsability is a Community Interest Company that aims to help parents and guardians to access all forms of support for their children. They also offer training to organisations who wish to work with children and young adults with Special Educational Needs.
During the visit, Jo also met with Tyldesley mum Gaynor Kirrane, who launched MYSENsability in 2023. Gaynor spoke to Jo about her her parent advocacy work and the ways that she helps those that have children with SEN needs to be heard.
Jo Platt said: “Navigating SEN diagnosis and support systems can be incredibly difficult and that’s why the work of CICs like MYSENsability locally is so important.”
These new drop-in sessions will be held fortnightly at Formby Avenue Family Hub’s Tyldesley Linked Site, which is located on Poplar Street in Tyldesley. The next session is being held from 10am-11.30am, on Tuesday 4 March.
