Local stakeholders meet to discuss how to support local cultural organisations at The Snug in Atherton.

Jo Platt – MP for Leigh and Atherton – met up with the Arts Council and local stakeholders, to discuss how best to support cultural organisations within Leigh and Atherton.

Local MP Jo Platt, Arts Council England’s chief executive Darren Henley, Wigan Council and representatives from organisations including WigLe Dance CIC, The Turnpike Gallery, Spinners Mill met up at The Snug in Atherton.

The group met up to talk about how grassroots and community organisations can be better supported. They also discussed the impact these cultural organisations are having on constituents and the wider communities across the borough.

Jo Platt said: “It was great to meet with the Chief Executive of the Arts Council, representatives from the council and other local cultural organisations, at The Snug in Atherton.

“We had a productive conversation about the ways that grassroot and community organisations can be better supported by Government.

“It was also great to hear about the impact that creative groups are having on local residents. These groups and venues are making a real difference to peoples’ lives.”
