Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

Leigh and Atherton MP – Jo Platt – is urging residents to have their say on a new housing development in Atherton.
Tarleton Estates Ltd in their capacity as agent for The Lilford Estate are in the process of preparing an outline planning application for up to 550 new homes on land east of Atherton.
As well as homes, the development includes improved infrastructure, additional public footpaths, a cycle network and a commitment to green space – including new trees and hedgerows included.
A call has been made, seeking residents’ views, as they look to further develop their proposals before submitting an outline planning application to Wigan Council.
Local MP, Jo Platt, said: “The public consultation on the development on land to the east of Atherton – to the south of Bolton Road – is now open.
“This will give residents the opportunity to have their say. So if you live nearby, I’d urge you to ensure that your voice is heard. You could help to shape the development plans.”
Once an application has been submitted by the developer, the Council will consult formally on the plans and residents will have a further opportunity to comment.
If you want to have your say, you can email: contact@consulteastofatherton.co.uk. The deadline for all feedback is Saturday 15 February, 2025.
