Leigh and Atherton MP – Jo Platt – attended the Parliamentary launch of ‘Home: Ukraine Photography, UK Words’ today – an exhibition showcasing contemporary Ukrainian culture.

‘Home: Ukraine Photography, UK Words’ is an exhibition about contemporary Ukrainian culture, where Ukrainian artists express how they see and think about ‘home’.

Jo Platt said: “I was honoured to attend the launch of ‘Home: Ukraine Photography, UK Words’ in Parliament today. This exhibition showcases contemporary Ukrainian culture.

“For many Ukrainians, home has been shattered, both emotionally and physically, since February 2022. This exhibition powerfully explores the meaning of home, how it’s been reconstructed, and the journey to what it will be.

“I’m in awe of the personality, talent, and resilience that shines through the photographs, art, and poetry.”

In December, Jo had the chance to visit the exhibition at The Turnpike Gallery in Leigh during its UK Tour.

Jo added: “It was wonderful to reconnect with the amazing teams at Open Eye Gallery and Ukrainian Photographers in Parliament – and it was great to see Wigan Council’s culture team in Parliament too.”
