Jo Platt MP was invited to represent Leigh and Atherton at a special event at Buckingham Palace.
Hundreds of new MPs – including Jo Platt – were elected in July 2024, and this Royal Reception was held at Buckingham Palace to welcome them.
Hosted by King Charles and the Queen Consort Camilla, 45 peers and 270 MPs were invited to the event. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke of Gloucester also attended the event, as well as the Prime Minister – Sir Keir Starmer.
Jo Platt said: “It was the greatest honour to represent Leigh and Atherton at Buckingham Palace to meet Their Majesties, The King and Queen.
“The King was on good form and he knew every constituency too, so it was a day to remember.
“I also spoke to Prince Edward. As a champion of the arts he was mightily impressed by our Spinners Mill project. His invite to visit is in the post.”
