Jo Platt – the MP for Leigh and Atherton – visited Manchester Airport today, She was there to discuss the expansion of Terminal 3 and the opportunities this could create for Leigh and Atherton residents.

Manchester Airport has more than 50 airlines flying to around 200 destinations worldwide. It is the UK’s third busiest airport. The airport operation supports 48,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs within Greater Manchester.

Jo, who chairs the Greater Manchester APPG, said: “It was great to visit to Manchester Airport to discuss the expansion of Terminal 3 and the contribution the airport makes to our economy.

“We also talked about employment opportunities for the people of Leigh and Atherton – but this must come with improvement transport links.”

Earlier this week, the Government also confirmed the Heathrow Expansion. This will create more investment, growth and opportunities for all. Regionally, it will mean an extra £1.3bn per year for the North West.
