Jo Platt – the MP for Leigh and Atherton – is urging eligible residents to sign up to Electricity North West’s Extra Care register.
Jo is reaching out due to warnings that Storm Éowyn will bring strong winds to the North West, which can increase the risk of power cuts and make repairs difficult.
The Extra Care Register is for any households who have vulnerable members at home, including those with children under 5. It ensures that in the event of a power cut for any reason, your household is automatically prioritised for emergency help, and for restoring lost power.
If you experience a power cut, being on the extra care register can provide you with vital support such as:
- Weather and power cut updates.
- Dedicated experts to support your needs.
- Advice and support.
- Nominate a friend or family member to receive updates on your behalf.
- One-stop registration: we can also share your details with other trusted partners including your water and energy suppliers, so they can provide you with similar support.
