Today, Jo Platt – the MP for Leigh and Atherton, met up with local leaders to discuss how they can improve rail connectivity across the North West.
GM Mayor Andy Burnham and Liverpool Mayor Steve Rotheram joined Jo Platt for the meeting – along with other MPs – including Michael Wheeler, Josh Simons and Ashley Dalton.
The meeting provided an opportunity for colleagues from across the broader Manchester and Liverpool region to come together and discuss how they can help make the case for investment in our transport infrastructure and help the Government achieve its mission of kickstarting economic growth. All of the leaders in attendance are committed to improving rail links across the two regions.
Last month, Jo Platt met Peter Hendy – the Minister of State for Transport – who told her that Golborne Station was officially going ahead.
