Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

The Government has committed to an additional £100 million for adult and children’s hospices – and £26 million to support children and young people’s hospices – to ensure they can continue delivering the dignity, care and compassion that everyone deserves.
The £100 million funding will help hospices this year and next, to provide the best end of life care to patients and their families, in a supportive and dignified physical environment.
Hospices for children and young people will also receive a further £26 million revenue funding for 2025/26, through what until recently was known as the Children’s Hospice Grant.
Jo Platt, MP for Leigh and Atherton, said: “I am pleased to have supported the campaign to highlight the incredible work of Wigan and Leigh Hospice, and the vital end-of-life care and support that they provide to patients and families across our community. Like many hospices, they have faced significant financial pressures over the past decade and must raise the majority of their funding themselves.”
