Jo Platt, the MP for Leigh and Atherton, met Pact – the UK trade association that represent the commercial interests of independent TV, film and digital content producers.

The UK independent film and TV production sector is one of the most successful, innovative, and creative in the world, with total sector revenues reaching just under £4 billion in 2022. It also plays an important role in the wider creative industries, helping to sustain a range of jobs across post-production, visual effects companies and freelance production crew and talent.

During the meeting, the group discussed ways that independent production businesses from across the UK can develop and thrive, regardless of their size or location. They also discussed Pact’s latest publication – entitled ‘Manifesto for Growth 2024’.

Jo Platt said: “I was delighted to meet up with Pact, in Parliament today, to discuss the proposals contained in the Manifesto for Growth 2024 in more detail.

“Ensuring that those operating within Creative Industries have the space to prosper is very important to me, so it was great to hear from Pact about what they feel needs to be implemented, to ensure that independent production businesses are future proofed and given the opportunity to grow.”

Pact has 700 member companies across the UK, who produce content for the Public Service Broadcasters, such as the BBC and Channel 4 – as well as international broadcasters and global streaming services.

The Manifesto for Growth 2024 outlines a number of key proposals that will continue grow the sector.
