Working together to clean up Leigh town centre.
Jo Platt’s office were recently involved in a joint operation in Leigh town centre, with Wigan Council focussed on encouraging the local community to play a more active role in combatting the issues of rubbish, littering and fly-tipping.
In addition to distributing leaflets to residents and businesses on the day, Jo’s team were joined by Joanne Berry (Town Centre Manager for Leigh), Karen Cox (Centre Manager of Spinning Gate Shopping Centre) and Councillor Lee McStein.
In total, the group collected 260kg of litter around the town centre. This activity was also supported by enforcement activity.
Similar activities will be taking place elsewhere in the Leigh and Atherton constituency in the coming months.
Jo Platt said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the council staff, including Steve who joined us on his final day before retiring.
“We will work together to make sure Leigh is a clean town – free of litter – that we can all be proud of.”
