Manchester United Women took on Liverpool Women at Leigh Sports Village today. Local MP Jo Platt went along to support United – and one of the team’s star players – Tyldesley-born Ella Toone.

At half time, Jo caught up with Ella – and Colin Bridgford – from the FA, to discuss support for grassroots sports.

The game ended with Manchester United beating Liverpool 4-0.

Jo Platt, said: “We braved the chilly weather to cheer on Manchester United Women at Leigh Sports Village as they faced Liverpool. It was absolutely worth it – what a game! A fantastic 4-0 victory for the Reds!

“Half-time was extra special as we caught up with our local superstar, Ella Toone, along with Colin Bridgford from the FA.

“Once again, it’s clear we’re lucky to have such incredible talent and top-notch facilities right on our doorstep.

“And let’s be honest, this result is a masterclass the men’s team could learn from!”
