Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

Small Business Saturday is a reminder to shop local. Jo Platt – the MP for for Leigh and Atherton – was out supporting businesses in Golborne today, as she reminded residents to shop local where they can.
Jo met Golborne and Lowton West Councillor Gena Merrett to try the coffee and cake at Ergo Coffee Shop.
She said: “It was great to catch up with Councillor Gena Merrett Ergo Coffee Shop in Golborne today. This is a fairly new café and coffee shop that’s already a hit with residents. I even got behind the counter to make the coffee!
“If you haven’t been to Ergo Coffee Shop yet, then I urge you to visit. Local businesses bring life, character, and connection to our communities. Let’s keep them thriving by shopping small and supporting local every chance we get!”
Labour is committed to supporting small businesses. The Party has pledged to do the following:
- Raise the limit small businesses start paying national insurance
- Reform business rates to save small businesses money
- Tackle retail crime with new funding for prevention and police training
- Stamp out the late payments that harm small businesses
- End the Tory policy of not investigating stolen goods under £200
- Freeze fuel duty to bring down costs for small business
