The winner of Jo Platt’s 2024 Christmas card design competition has been revealed. Charlie, a Year 4 pupil from St Luke’s C of E Primary, designed the winning entry.
Charlie’s artwork is on the front of Jo’s card, which has now been printed. It will be sent out to local residents, businesses and community groups, as well as other Parliamentary contacts – including Prime Minister – Keir Starmer.
Jo Platt, the MP for Leigh and Atherton, said: “I had an amazing response to my Christmas card design competition – and I’d like to thank each and every child that took the time to enter.
“Competition was fierce, but Charlie’s bright design edged it. My whole team was impressed by his artwork.
“The competition couldn’t have happened without the support of local business – Structures Group. I’d like to thank them for sponsoring the competition.”
Following the visit to St Luke’s C of E Primary, Headteacher, Steve Hardaker, said: “The staff and children were absolutely delighted to participate in the Christmas Card Competition hosted by our local MP, Jo Platt.
“This engaging initiative certainly got everyone into the festive spirit! With an outpouring of creative energy, the children responded with great enthusiasm, crafting vibrant and imaginative designs that encapsulated the joy of the season. It was heartwarming to see their faces light up as they poured their creativity into each card.
“What makes this competition even more special is the knowledge that the cards will be sent to our community, spreading cheer to those who need it most. As if that isn’t exciting enough, the winning card from St Luke’s will be personally delivered to the Prime Minister himself! This opportunity has not only fostered a sense of community but has also allowed the children to express their artistic flair in a meaningful way. What a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas!”
The competition was sponsored by local business, Structures Group, and Director Lloyd Jolley, said: “We’re thrilled to have been able to support Jo’s Christmas Card Competition this year, and have been so impressed with the amazing, creative entries from our region’s talented children.
