Earlier this week, Jo Platt – the MP for Leigh and Atherton – met up with Peter Hendy – the Minister of State for Transport – to be given the news that the Golborne Station was officially going ahead.

This new accessible train station will be the first new railway station in the Manchester city region for twenty years. There will be an hourly service between Wigan and Manchester Victoria, and it will go onwards to Stalybridge

Jo Platt said: “It was great to meet with the Minister of State for Transport this week to discuss Golborne Station. There are exciting plans underway to improve connectivity and accessibility for Leigh and Atherton and the rest of Greater Manchester.”
