Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

Jo Platt MP met the Fur Free Britain coalition in Parliament today, to learn more about the Humane Society International’s campaign to end of fur imports – to stop the suffering endured by millions of animals who suffer and die for fur fashion overseas.
Jo was asked to attended this Fur Free Britain event, by a Leigh and Atherton constituent, who is concerned about the international fur trade.
Fur farming was banned in the UK over 20 years ago, because Parliament and the public deemed it too cruel, but we are still allowing fur to be imported from abroad.
Jo Platt, MP for Leigh and Atherton, said: “I met with Fur Free Britain to find out more about the Private Members’ Bill that Ruth Jones MP tabled to ban the import and sale of fur.
“As a country, we need to shut up shop on this cruel and unnecessary trade once and for all. A fur import ban would send a strong message to the rest of the world.”
