Leigh Civic Square is set to receive a £11.4m refurbishment and local MP Jo Platt is urging residents and businesses to have their say on the proposals.

The funding will be spent on three projects in total. The first project is set to improve to Leigh Civic Square, Market Street and Market Place, the second is the Leigh building grants scheme and the third is to refurbish Leigh Market.

A consultation has been launched by Wigan Council, to get resident’s views on the proposed changes to Leigh Civic Square.

Jo Platt, the MP for Leigh and Atherton, said: “With £11.4m of government funding set to be used on improvements to Leigh’s Civic Square, revamped shop fronts, and a refurbished Leigh Market, details have been released by Wigan Council on their plans for the Civic Square and I’d encourage residents and businesses to share their thoughts on the current plans.”
