Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

Jo was invited down to Parklee Community School in Atherton, to join in with the school’s UK Parliament Week (UKPW) activities. UKPW is an annual event, which this year is running from 18-24 November.
The aim of UKPW is to inform and educate people about the work and role of the UK Parliament.
The pupils at Parklee Community School had come up with a list of questions to ask their local MP, ahead of her visit.
Jo said: “It was lovely to meet the Parklee team – and I want to thank the staff – and the children for welcoming me.
“The children asked me some tricky questions – and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into them. It was also great to hear about the children’s aspirations and priorities for the future.
“I would urge all local schools and community groups to sign up to UK Parliament Week. It is a great opportunity to learn more about our democratic system.”
