Today, Jo Platt MP chaired the first Greater Manchester APPG. This group of MPs will be regularly meeting to drive improvements within the region.

All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) are informal, cross-party groups formed by MPs and Members of the House of Lords who share a common interest in a particular policy area, region or country. They give Members of Parliament to work together to achieve common goals.

The aim of the Greater Manchester APPG is to provide a strong and united voice for Greater Manchester in Westminster. The group will gather political and business leaders to build consensus and drive investment and growth for the benefit of communities throughout the region.

Jo Platt, MP for Leigh and Atherton, said: “I was honoured to chair the first session of the Greater Manchester APPG this week.

“We had some exciting discussions about driving growth, creating opportunities, attracting investment, and delivering real change for Greater Manchester.

“I’d like to give a special thanks to all who joined, including the brilliant GM Mayor – Andy Burnham.”
