Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

The festivities officially began in Leigh today, with this year’s Light Up Leigh parade. Local MP Jo Platt was there to support the performers.
The parade started on Gas Street, at 4pm, and the performers then made their way along Bradshawgate to the Cenotaph War Memorial, where they passed a magical light installation projected over the square, before looping back to Leigh Civic Square.
Jo Platt, the MP for Leigh and Atherton, said: “We are lucky to have been treated to yet another amazing Light Up Leigh event and parade.
“A huge amount of work has taken place to make this happen. Well done to all the community groups, Wigan Council and everyone else involved.”
As well as a light parade, Christmas markets and independent traders operated at this Frost Feast event. Those that attended were also treated to live music performances from local artists and children were able to meet the big man himself – Father Christmas – at Leigh Town Hall.
