Jo Platt MP for Leigh and Atherton

Jo Platt, the MP for Leigh and Atherton, visited Dene Croft children’s home today. During the visit, Jo found out how the staff have been helping children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to achieve the future they deserve.
Dene Croft Children’s Home provides education, therapy and futures to children facing social, emotional, or mental health challenges, as well as those on the autistic spectrum. The team cares for children from within the Leigh and Atherton area.
Jo Platt said: “It was great to visit Dene Croft and to meet the wonderful team there, that are working hard to raise aspiration for young people within Leigh and Atherton. The team helps the children they care for to achieve better outcomes in education, employability, and life skills.
“During the visit, I also spoke to the team about the research paper – Changing the Trajectory of Traumatic Childhoods – that has been written by the research group Sonnet. This research evidences the life changing impact that the model that Dene Court uses can have on the children and young people who are placed with them.”
Dene Croft Children’s Home is part of the Witherslack Group – a nationwide education provider – that cares for children and young people with SEN.
