Today, Jo Platt – the MP for Leigh and Atherton – met up with Natural England in Parliament.
The event aimed to highlight the fundamental role Parliamentarians can play as champions for local nature recovery. The event also marked the 75th anniversary of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949.
Steve Reed MP – the Secretary of State at Defra – spoke to set out the Government’s policy framework for nature recovery. He urged collaboration among all partners to drive the change needed to protect our over the next 75 years – and beyond.
Leigh and Atherton MP – Jo Platt – said: “It was great to meet up with Natural England to hear more about their work to protect and improve England’s natural environment and to encourage people get more involved in their surroundings.
“I also got the opportunity to meet up with Lucy Abram, the Area Deputy Director and Natural England lead for the Leigh and Atherton area.”
