The borough of Wigan now has a clean sweep of Labour MPs representing residents. Jo Platt, Lisa Nandy, Josh Simons and Michael Wheeler represent people that live within the whole area that Wigan Council serves – and the group met up to discuss the challenges facing the borough.
All four MPs recently met up with Wigan Council officials to make a plan of action, as there’s a lot of work to be done, after 14 years of Tory rule. Everybody in attendance agreed that collaborative working will key to improving things for residents.
Jo Platt said: “I recently joined borough MPs – Lisa Nandy, Josh Simons and Michael Wheeler – to discuss the challenges facing Wigan with council leader David Molyneux and CEO Alison McKenzie-Folan.
“These conversations are essential for finding effective ways to support our residents and local businesses.
“In our constituency, I remain focused on key priorities such as tackling crime, improving our town centres and transport infrastructure, and ensuring affordable housing for all.
“There’s a lot of work to be done, but together we’re determined to improve the prospects of residents and business across the borough.”
