Community credit union – Unify – has officially reopened its doors, after it was forced to close due to flooding.
Local MP – Jo Platt – and GM Mayor – Andy Burnham, were there to officially reopen the branch, which is located on Bradshawgate in Leigh.
Jo Platt, said: “Following on from tradition, Andy Burnham officially opened Unify Credit Union yesterday. The last time he did it, I was again by his side.
“It’s great to see the reopening of our very own community bank and I’m looking forward to working with the Unify Credit Union team.”
Unify Credit Union is a not-for-profit credit union offering affordable loans, insurance and savings advice. There are nearly 10,000 members across Wigan, Leigh, Chorley, South Ribble, Warrington and Skelmersdale.
All Unify members get a share of profits at the end of each year.
The Unify Credit Union on Bradshawgate is open 9:30am-3pm, Monday-Tuesday; 9:30am-1pm on Wednesday; and 9:30am-3pm, Thursday-Friday. The store will be shut at weekends and on bank holidays.
