Jo Platt, the MP for Leigh and Atherton, met up with the Fallen Angels Dance Theatre last week, to chat about its new exhibition at The Turnpike Gallery in Leigh.
The company, which has been working in the borough since 2012, exists to support those in recovery from addiction and those living with a mental health condition to transform their lives through dance, performance and creativity.
The exhibition, which is entitled: ‘Beyond The Surface: Journeys from Within’, is celebrating what the dance and theatre company has achieved over the last decade. It features artwork, photography and films from the Fallen Angels Dance Theatre. The focal point is on the newly-commissioned work ‘Samadhi’ – which is an immersive digital dance, light and sound installation.
Jo Platt said: “It was great to meet local participants and to hear how their involvement with the Fallen Angels Dance Theatre has helped them on their recovery journey.
“The company has done some brilliant work within the borough, and it was great to see that celebrated in such an innovative way. I’d urge all local people to visit the exhibition if they’re able to.”
Beyond The Surface: Journeys from Within’ is on at The Turnpike Gallery in Leigh, until Saturday 23 November.
