This weekend saw the return of the Leigh Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) open day. Jo Platt, the MP for Leigh and Atherton, attended to show her support for the event.
During the open day, members of the public were able to watch safety displays, to chat to firefighters and to explore fire engines. St John Ambulance were also there, teaching CPR to members of the public – over 350 received basic training.
Jo Platt said: “I had to visit to Leigh Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) open day.
“It was a great, fun day for the whole family, with important preventative information and demonstrations of things that that keep us all safe.
“It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the event. My favourite part of the day was meeting Minnie, the fire and investigation dog, who is trained to find ignitable liquid.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is not just about responding to emergencies – the team aim to make a positive difference to the communities it serves.
