Pride In Leigh returned to Pennington Hall Park today and it was more popular than ever. Thousands of locals turned up to this family-friendly event, which celebrates the LGBTQ+ community in and around Leigh.
As well as having a stage that was used to showcase local talent, including bands and dance troops, Pride In Leigh offered stalls for small businesses, youth services and charities.
Local MP Jo Platt was amongst the revellers. She said: “The annual Pride In Leigh event is now in its fourth year and it seems to go from strength to strength.
“The Pride in Leigh organisers do a wonderful job of bringing our community together and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that makes this event possible.
“For me personally, spending time with good friends is always the best part of this brilliant event.”
Caffeina Cafe and Rights Community were the main hosts for the day, but the Pride in Leigh team was also supported by Happy Faces Face Painting and Bouncin Mad ltd. This meant that event goers could have their face painted and enjoy a free bouncing slide.
Pride in Leigh organiser, Councillor Jess Eastoe, said: “This event was another fantastic example of our community coming together to celebrate our people and our town.”
We were blessed with good vibes and great weather which led to our biggest crowds yet. When we started in 2021, we had around 300 people attend, but thousands were in attendance today.
“There’s plenty to do for children here and we were really proud to see so many parents, children and young people enjoying themselves.”
