The Veterans Hub Leigh launched a new facility at Leigh Spinners Mill today, where the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester officially declared the hub as open. Local MP Jo Platt also attended to show her support for the initiative.

The Veterans Hub Leigh is a Community Interest Company, providing a safe place for veterans and their families to meet, socialise and seek help and advice from both peers and professional organisations.

During the launch event, there was a spectacular march-in ceremony and the Leigh Community Choir also gave a spine-tingling performance.

Jo Platt, MP for Leigh and Atherton, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with our Leigh veterans over the past few years, and I’m thrilled that they have secured a space for a hub here in Leigh. I’m looking forward to see how this new hub, which will provide outreach and support to local veterans, progresses.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Wigan Council, Keith Cunliffe – Deputy Leader of the Wigan Council, Paul Costello – General Manager at Leigh Spinners Mill, and especially Johnny Simpkin and Leigh Veterans for their relentless efforts in making this happen.”
