Jo Platt met up with The 5th Tyldesley Cubs this evening, who were taking part in the Cardboard City Sleepover.

The Cubs took part in the event to find out what people experience when they are homeless.

To make it an authentic experience, the Cubs were only allowed to use a sleeping bag, roll mat, pillow, drinks bottle and cardboard. As well as making cardboard shelters to sleep in, the Cubs also ran their own soup kitchen.

The group are also raising money for local homelessness charity The Brick – and Homeless Aid UK.

Jo Platt said: “I met the Cubs that were doing a Cardboard City Sleepover in aid of The Brick and Homeless Aid.

“During the session, I did a question-and-answer session with the group – and all I can say is that our future is bright with a lot of switched on, knowledgeable and politically aware young people.”

The Brick and Homeless Aid UK also attended the event. Representatives spoke to the Cubs about the important work they do in the community.
